Benefits

Membership of the (DMSC) gives access to a formal network of dairy manufacturing personnel involved in sustainability.  Access is available via this website, involvement in research projects and reviews, and through the DMSC forums.  Invitation to the forums provides exposure to external experts from academia, research organisations, regulators, and non-dairy companies (or as appropriate).

Benefits of both full and associate membership include increased awareness of and access to relevant research and industry projects, corresponding reports (as approved by DMSC), regular industry updates, and the opportunity to access and network with key dairy manufacturing stakeholders; latter including via invitation to regular forums.

Forum

The DMSC Forum has been running since 2003, with at least two meetings of one to two full days’ duration being held each year; mostly held in Melbourne.  Topics addressed at these meetings have ranged from disposal and utilisation of waste water treatment sludge, new directions for environmental legislation, eco-efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction, cleaner production, and environmental supply chain management.  [see Forum Agenda]

The Forum also allows members to be informed of the latest research and to get involved with the people doing the research.  Members also have a say in the direction of future research funded by Dairy Australia*.  Forum meetings are structured in a way that allows members to openly discuss topics with specialists and each other.  Next meeting is currently scheduled for Melbourne in May 2011.
